A New Baby & a New Start

Whew!  

How things have changed since the last time I accessed this blog and sat for a few minutes to compose my thoughts about pregnancy, parenting & more.

We've added a new little one to our family - a wee little Miss - and what I thought was a busy life running a business, being a Mom and trying to maintain an ounce of independence (ha, ha, ha!) just became a whole heck busier! 

In the days and weeks and months to come (which will fly by!) I have decided to rededicate some "me" time to writing this blog.  

From here on out you will find lots of chit chat about life as a small business owner, discussions about pregnancy and birth through my doula work, and most importantly the in and out experiences and commentary of a mother-of-two trying to make it all happen one day at a time.

I hope you will follow along in this journey.

But first....

Getting Crafty

Since the maternal instinct (raging hormones!) kicked in during my pregnancy I have found a love for arts, crafts & all sorts of handmade items. 

My personal attention to creating beautiful things has often been distracted by shop/teaching/home demands - although I have the wonderful talent of changing our home decor all too often.  Give me a can of paint & a paintbrush and you unleash the creative demons within (more on this and upcoming plans for the back shop wall in days to come too!).   But lately I have felt the urge to create something more than just a blank wall as a canvas for one colour.
Today's post is about my own, personal, contribution to our shop.
I have long felt that the centre of the store has needed something grand, spectacular, & eye-catching. 

It would be ideal to hang a giant chandelier that twinkles & sparkles as it illuminates the shop.... however I have recently priced these out and have found that "twinkly" and "sparkly" are attached to words like "expensive" and "extravagant."  For now the following shall suffice...!
In the days to come I will be constructing an installation of a giant, delicate, mobile that will hang from the ceiling and add some colour and interest in said-space. 

The Spring inspires me and I have decided that this just may be the start of a beautiful friendship with some therapeutic arts & crafts projects.

Spring Forward

Spring is my favourite time of year, so naturally it has become my favourite time of year at our shop as well.  As soon as that first Robin is heard and the temps reach above 10 degrees I can't help but almost yell "It's here! It's here!"  Like a kid on Christmas morning.

Spring cleaning, organizing ideas, looking for new and fun things to inspire the rest of 2012 and giving old ideas a face-lift are just a few motivations Spring deliciously has my mind toying with.  Every morning I find I want to hit the ground running with a revived sense of excitement.
This will be our third Spring down at Glow Maternity and it is looking to be our biggest, most exciting, one yet!  Our studio schedule is going to be hopping (a play on words considering most of the new workshops & courses will start up around Easter) and we have been working diligently through the Winter researching only THE BEST & the most necessary for bellies & babies!

This blog is also a revitalization and rebirth for Spring.  In the upcoming weeks, month & year we will be doing regular posts about pregnancy, baby, Motherhood, small business, products & more!
